The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, Moonlight Festival, or Reunion Festival, is a cherished cultural milestone celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. Rooted in ancient agricultural traditions, the festival centers around the full moon—a universal symbol of wholeness, prosperity, and family togetherness. At DcsSupplier Limited, a global leader in supplying genuine PLC and DCS components, we join our global clients in honoring this rich tradition while maintaining unwavering support for your critical industrial infrastructure.
Please note our holiday schedule: Our office will observe the Mid-Autumn Festival from September 25 to September 27, 2026 (3 days in total). Although physical dispatch operations pause during this brief recess, our technical sourcing and sales channels remain 100% active. You can reach out to our team at any time for urgent part inquiries or quotation requests.
Cultural Foundations and Traditions of the Moon Festival
The festival's roots trace back to the Pre-Qin period as an autumn evening worship of celestial phenomena. It expanded through the Han and Tang dynasties and became a formal national holiday during the Northern Song Dynasty.
Centuries of rich heritage have shaped several meaningful cultural customs:
- Moon Worship and Appreciation: Families gather outdoors under the bright autumn sky to admire the full moon, symbolizing completeness and reunion.
- Festive Culinary Traditions: Sharing round mooncakes—the classic festival pastry—alongside regional delicacies like snails and fragrant osmanthus wine.
- Community Light Displays: Handcrafting vibrant paper lanterns, solving lantern riddles, and performing fire dragon dances to bring vitality and luck to local neighborhoods.
- Traditional Ceremonies: Planting moon trees and erecting festive pagodas as tokens of hope for future prosperity and smooth operations.
