GE IC610CHS114A Series One 5-Slot Rack

The GE IC610CHS114A, also cataloged as the IC610CHS114A PLC chassis, operates as a dedicated hardware component for backplane power distribution and modular I/O card housing within GE Series One programmable controller architectures.

Suffix Breakdown & Model Matrix

The part number structure follows GE Series One convention:

• IC610: Specifies the Series One hardware product line.
• CHS: Designates a base rack or chassis frame assembly.
• 114A: Identifies the 5-slot form factor with an integrated 24 VDC power supply variant.

Hardware Specifications

Profinet / EtherNet/IP Deterministic Networks and I/O Density

The rack backplane provides deterministic high-speed parallel bus communications between installed processing units and expansion I/O modules. Integrated power paths distribute regulated 24 VDC to the local logic supply circuitry while providing structural ground continuity across all slots. Backplane bus timing and signal integrity remain constant across all card positions, enabling deterministic scan cycles and firmware flash compatibility between installed CPU modules and modular I/O components.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can expansion modules be plugged into or removed from the IC610CHS114A rack while the 24 VDC supply is energized?

A: No. Hot-swapping is strictly prohibited on Series One rack architectures. System supply power must be disconnected before inserting or removing any card to avoid backplane voltage spikes or module damage.

Q: How is the 24 VDC system power provided to the module slots?

A: The rack incorporates an integrated 24 VDC power supply interface that routes regulated bus voltage directly through the internal backplane traces to power all installed cards.

Field Installation Guidelines

• Mount the 5-slot rack vertically onto a flat, grounded panel using steel screws through all designated chassis mounting holes.
• Establish a low-impedance ground connection from the chassis earth ground terminal to the main system grounding bar before powering the unit.
• Ensure minimum vertical clearance above and below the rack chassis to allow proper natural convection cooling across all installed modules.
