Description
The Studio 5000 environment supports a generic ControlNet module that allows connections to ControlNet nodes for which there is no specific support currently available in the programming software. A module configured as a generic ControlNet module communicates with the controller in the form of input, output, status, and configuration tags.
The 1756-CNBR ControlLogix is an Allen-Bradley Redundant Bridge Interface Module that facilitates communication inside a ControlNet Network. This redundant media device is suitable for real-time, high-throughput industrial applications. What makes this module different from the 1756-CNB is the presence of an additional ControlNet port that supports redundant media. The module features two ControlNet BNC ports whilst the 1756-CNB only features 1, though both of them possess 1 ControlNet RJ45 port. This Redundant Bridge Module has 5.1 Watts, 5 Megabytes per second (Mbps), and 40 to 48 Logix Communication Connections. Together with the Logix5550 Controller, the 1756-CNBR also regulates the flow of scheduled data and bridges unscheduled data existent between ControlNet and ControlLogix. To avoid the loss of communication when a tap is disconnected, consider using redundant ControlNet media. For that particular connection, the 1756-CNBR is the only suitable module.
