Remote Network Interface and Controller Compatibility
Serving as the interface hardware between a remote 1771 I/O rack and a central processor, the 1771-ASC translates backplane data into serial network packets. It supports remote communication rates up to 57.6 kbit/s over twinaxial cable networks (such as Belden 9463), allowing control architecture extension without installing local processor racks.
Chassis Installation and Wiring Connection
The module mounts directly into the leftmost slot of a standard 1771 I/O chassis. Field and network wiring connect via the dedicated 1771-WB field wiring arm, allowing maintenance personnel to swap or service the adapter module without disturbing the incoming communication cable connections.
