Description
The 21 12 Module contains two memory sites, U2 and U9. Xycom's firmware is installed in socket U9. (Even if no firmware is installed in your version of the 21 12, only socket U2 can be used for memory expansion.) Socket U2 can contain 128 Kbytes of RAM or an EPROM.
Always turn OFF power to the terminal and disconnect the power cord before installing or removing any module. Also, turn OFF power to all related external power supplies. Make sure the jumpers are set appropriately. Check all connections to external devices or power supplies to make sure they comply with the specifications of the module.
The direct connection to Allen-Bradley's Remote I/O network is accomplished through a high-speed serial expansion card, which comes installed on the 21 12-AB Expansion Module. In this manual, the expansion card is referred to as the direct connect card. The entire 21 12-AB unit is referred to as the 21 12.
