Description of DS3800NGDC1A1A

The DS3800NGDC1A1A is a ground detector board manufactured by GE as a component for their Mark IV/Speedtronic series. This series, designed for gas/steam turbine control, can automate some procedures for the turbine system including shut down and startup. It can also help maintain safe operating parameters and help keep the turbine system running within those parameters.

The DS3800NGDC1A1A is built with three transistors. Two of these transistors are small, but the third is a larger Motorola NPN power transistor with a heat sink installed. It has four integrated circuits. It is also built with six test points (TPs.) It is worth noting these TP test points are labeled TP0 through TP5, as TP0 acts as a ground.

The DS3800NGDC1A1A has the following specifications:

1. It is built with various capacitors and diodes. This includes two blue 25V 100 μf capacitors and two yellow Seacor DC foil & film capacitors (polyester) with axial leads rated at 600V.

2. It has one 2-position PCB terminal block. It also has one 5-position PC mount terminal strip. These are located on opposite edges of the board from each other. At 90 degrees from both of these is a male 3-pin header.

3. It has four integrated circuits.

4. It has six TP test points. It is important to note these are numbered TP0-TP5. TP0 acts as a ground.

5. It is drilled at all corners of the board.

6. There are three transistors mounted to the board. This includes two small transistors and one larger Motorola NPN power transistor. The Motorola transistor has a heatsink installed.

7. It has sparely plated through holes (PTH).

8. It is built with three cement wire wound resistors. Two are elevated off the board by the use of nylon plugs through the wires. It also has smaller ceramic covered metal film resistors.
