The GE Fanuc 90-30 IC693CHS391 is a modular CPU baseplate that has 10 slots. The GE Fanuc 90-30 IC693CHS391 type of Baseplate does not have CPU and memory chips on it's backplae. Instead, it has a connector in Slot 1 for a plug-in CPU module. The IC693CHS391 is modular and can be replaced or changed to a different type if additional features are desired. This expansion plate is designed with a slot at the left end of the baseplate especially for the power supply. The unique size of this slot ensures it is only compatible with a power supply. The user should ensure that the IC693CHS391 is connected to the CPU in the first slot of its baseplate. The first slot of the baseplate supports the CPU module which is labeled CPU/1. This IC693CHS391 module is permitted to have only one CPU baseplate per system. If there is more than one baseplate in the system, then another one must be either Remote or Expansion baseplate. The IC693CHS391 consists of many slots of which slot number 2 and the slots above will have a unique size which is used to connect either option modules or I/O modules.
This IC693CHS391 module is provided with a 25-pin female connector in its right end to connect to the remote or expansion baseplate. Both remote and expansion baseplates should be connected to the system with a CPU. The number of these baseplates supported by a system mainly depends on the type of CPU used. A maximum of four baseplates can be used if the CPUs 341,340 and 331 are used, otherwise a maximum seven baseplates can be used with CPU 350. The IC693CHS391 system with remote baseplates requires a cable of less than 700 feet whereas the system requires less than 50 feet for expansion and CPU baseplate. Both remote and expansion baseplates are associated with the DIP switch.
GE Fanuc Series 90 Family Introduction
The Series 90-30, 90-20, and Micro PLCs are members of the GE Fanuc Series 90 family of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). They are easy to install and configure, offer advanced programming features, and are compatible with the Series 90-70 PLCs.
The software structure for the 341 and lower Series 90-30 PLCs and Series 90-20 PLC uses an architecture that manages memory and execution priority in the 80188 microprocessor. The 35x
and 36x series of 90-30 PLCs use an 80386EX microprocessor. The Series 90 Micro PLC uses the H8 microprocessor. This operation supports both program execution and basic housekeeping tasks such as diagnostic routines, input/output scanners, and alarm processing. The system software also contains routines to communicate with the programmer. These routines provide for the upload and download of application programs, return of status information, and control of the PLC.
