GE FANUC IC694CHS392 Description

The IC694CHS392 backplane has been designed and manufactured by GE Fanuc to be a serial expansion backplane in a GE Fanuc RX3i PacSystems PLC. This serial expansion backplane forms part of the base on which the RX3i PLC is built. It has 10 slots that different modules can be installed in. Regular PLCs have just 1 universal backplane on which they are built, but expansion systems or expansion PLCs have 1 universal backplane and at least 1 remote backplane or 1 expansion backplane such as the IC694CHS392 serial expansion backplane as their bases. When the IC694CHS392 serial expansion backplane is connected to a universal backplane, both backplanes can accommodate a total of 19 modules which can be analog, discrete, or special-function modules.

The GE Fanuc RX3i IC694CHS392 serial expansion backplane can be located up to 50 feet or 15 meters away from the universal backplane that it is connected to with an expansion cable that comes with a terminating resistor. This expansion backplane can be mounted on the front face of a 19-inch rack with front mount adapter brackets or it can be mounted inside a 19-inch rack with recessed mount adapter brackets. The leftmost slot in the IC694CHS392 serial expansion backplane is made to host the serial expansion power supply. These serial expansion power supplies can be normal power supplies or high-capacity power supplies. This backplane does not support hot insertion or hot removal. It comes with a DIP switch for selecting the rack number, and this switch needs to be set properly before any modules are installed.
