The MIF II feeder protection relay is a kind of microcomputer type relay. Its purpose is as follows:

- Main protection of middle and low voltage feeder.

- Main protection of medium capacity motor.

- Main protection for power transformers of medium and small capacity (less than 10MVA).

- Motor differential protection if there is a CT differential loop.

- Backup protection for power transformers (suitable for any power level).

- Backup protection for generators.

- Backup protection of transmission lines.

- Backup protection of substation busbars.

The RS232 interface in front and the RS485 interface in the back can be connected with the same PC for setting programming, actual value monitoring and retrieval of stored information (event list, recorded wave, etc.). All serial interfaces use the MODbus@rTU protocol and can be connected to systems with information transmission rates of 300, 600, 1200, 4800, 9600 and 19200 baud rates. Use GE Multilin DAC300, F485 or RS232/485 modules, or other standardized converters to convert subsequent RS485 interfaces into RS232 interfaces or fiber optic (plastic or glass) serial interfaces. MIIPC communication software is a Windows-@ program used to communicate with relays. The cipher system prevents unauthorized users from changing Settings using the relay keyboard or PC software.

MIFII USES flash memory technology that allows on-site upgrades (via MIIPC software) when new attributes are added. The upgrade can only be achieved through the communication interface at the front of the device.
