IC698CPE010 is the central processing unit of GE Fanuc RX7i series. The equipment can control industrial machinery and material processes in real time. It communicates with other devices and modules through the VME64 connected backplane installed on the rack.
The device has 10 MB of RAM memory for storing data and programming information. This memory is maintained by CMOS battery. An additional 10 MB of non-volatile flash memory (NVRAM) is also provided. Operating system firmware data is stored in flash memory. The firmware can be updated without disassembling the device or replacing the EPROM.
IC698CPE010 has a 300MHz Celeron microprocessor that can perform floating point calculations. The standard speed of each Boolean function is 0.33ms per coil. Other features of the device include but are not limited to the following: three embedded serial ports and two Ethernet ports, verbatim reference support, symbolic variable support, test editing mode, and data monitoring on the Web.
There are two ways to operate IC698CPE010: three-position run/stop switch, connect the device to the computer and run the appropriate software. This device can be connected to a computer via a serial or Ethernet port. Note: Using the Ethernet port will require IP addressing and Cat5 cable. For serial connections, the SNP protocol is used. In order to configure and program the device, Proficy Machine Edition PLC-Logic Developer software is used on the attached computer. The configuration data is protected by a password.
When installing IC698CPE010, please follow the instructions in the product manual. Disable rack power. Record the media access control (MAC) address of the device. Install and ground the device firmly to a slot (designated CPU slot) of the rack. Connect the Ethernet and serial ports. Re-enable rack power. Connect the CMOS battery to one of the connectors. Start programming the device.
