When the PLC runs, it is through the execution of the user program reflecting the control requirements to complete the control task, need to execute a number of operations, but the CPU is impossible to execute multiple operations at the same time, it can only according to the time-sharing operation (serial work) mode, each execution of an operation, in order to execute one by one.
Due to the CPU's fast processing speed, the results appearing outside the PLC seem to be completed simultaneously (in parallel) from a macro point of view.
This serial working process is called PLC scanning working mode.
When the user program is executed by scanning mode, the scanning starts from the bar program, and under the condition of no interruption or jump control, the user program is executed one by one in the sequence of program storage until the end of the program.The scan is then performed from scratch and repeated over and over again.
The working principle of PLC scanning and electrical control is obviously different.
The electrical control device adopts the hard logic parallel working mode.
If the coils of a relay are energized or cut off, all the normally open and normally closed contacts of the relay will immediately operate simultaneously no matter where they are in the control line.
While PLC adopts scanning working mode (serial working mode), if the coil of a soft relay is switched on or off, all its contacts will not act immediately, and must wait until the scan arrives before acting.
But because of the fast scanning speed of PLC, usually PLC and electrical control devices in I/O processing results and there is no difference.
