It enables communication and backplane signal extension between adjacent modular chassis when expanding standard SLC 500 system capacity within an enclosure.
System Expansion and Mounting Requirements
The 1746-C7 connects the backplane of a primary modular chassis to an expansion chassis installed side-by-side. The cable features keyed multi-pin ribbon connectors on both ends to ensure proper alignment and prevent improper pin contact during installation. System design guidelines require the expansion cable to exit from the right end of the main CPU chassis and enter the left side of the adjacent expansion chassis.

With an overall length of 0.5 feet (6 inches / 152.4 mm), the 1746-C7 is specifically intended for closely spaced horizontal side-by-side chassis configurations.
